Data Warehouse is a relational database that is designed more for query and analysis than in transaction process, and usually contains history data from transaction process and can also data from other sources. Warehouse data can also be regarded as a storage place of summaries of historical data that is often drawn from separate databases of departments, organizations or companies.
Data warehouse is collection of data that has the nature of subject-oriented, integrated, time-variant, and fixed nature of the data collection in support of management decision-making process, this process is subject-oriented, integrated, time-varying and permanent.
The main purpose of creating a data warehouse is to integrate diverse data into a storage area where users can easily run queries, generate reports, and perform analysis. One of the advantages gained from the existence of data warehouse is to improve the effectiveness of decision making.
There are four tasks that can be done by data warehouse namely:

There are four tasks that can be done by data warehouse namely:
- Making Reports that the reporting process is one of the most commonly used data warehouse. By using a simple query obtained reports per day, per month, per year or time period whenever desired.
- OLAP ie with the data warehouse, all the detailed information and the summary of the required results in the analysis process is easy in the can. OLAP employs multidimensional concepts and allows users to analyze data to detail, without typing any query commands.
- Data Mining is a process to explore new knowledge and information from the data that amounts to many in the data warehouse, using artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence), statistics and mathematics. Some of the solutions provided by data mining include:
- Guessing the target market in data mining can clustering buyer models and classifying each buyer and classifying each buyer according to the desired characteristics.
- Looking at the buying patterns over time where data mining can be used to look at buying patterns over time.
- Cross-Market Analysis where data mining can be used to see the relationship between one product with another product.
- The customer profile where data mining can help the user to see the buyer profile so that it can be known to certain buyer groups tend to any product.
- Summary information where data mining can create summary reports that are multidimensional and supplemented with other statistical information.
- The Executive Information Process ie data warehouse can create a summary of important information with the purpose of making business decisions, without having to explore the entire data. By using the data warehouse all reports have been summarized and can also know all the details completely, making it easier the decision-making process.
